All 391 apartments in the third and final stage of a Darling Harbour development sold out within four hours.

More than 400 buyers turned up on Saturday from 8am for their last chance to scoop up a new apartment in the final release at Darling Square — a new $3.4 billion precinct set to revitalise Darling Harbour.

The apartments ranged from $630,000 for a studio to $3.5 million for the three bedroom penthouse in the tower.

The precinct is set to be completed in 2019.

The development’s two earlier housing releases also sold out within hours of hitting the market and a similar level of interest was expected before the Saturday launch.

It was the first sell-out residential development in many months, as developers struggled to secure the impressive results they were used to last year.

The Darling Square precinct will be a residential and creative quarter opposite another development called Darling Harbour Live and will be completed in 2019.

The precinct will comprise around 1500 apartments, student accommodation, 40 retail outlets, commercial offices, the new convention, exhibition and entertainment venues and a luxury hotel.

Units will overlook a new, unique-looking civic centre.

Construction is already under way and the first apartment building, commercial building and laneways are starting to take shape, with the first residents expected to move in next year.

Amenities will include a heated swimming pool, outdoor gym equipment, secluded seating areas, two barbecues under a covered pergola and grassed open space.

The final release is part of a $3.4 billion plan to revitalise Darling Harbour.

Lendlease Director Jonathan Emery, the developer behind Darling Square, said the site’s inner city location was one of its biggest draws.

“They are also buying into the new Australian dream of inner city living where everything is on your doorstep,” he said.

Unit prices ranged from $630,000 to $3.5 million.

Much of the precinct will be public space, including two new squares, laneways and streets. At its heart will be a unique looking civic building that will house a proposed library and innovation centre.
